One of the oldest hand block printing techniques (dating back to 2500 BC) is now being practiced and preserved by artisans in Gujarat, India. Characterised usually by bright red and deep indigo colours, these prints incorporate jewel-like patterns which symbolise elements of nature such as stars and flowers.
This scarf features a variety of symmetrical motifs representing flowers and leaves which are usually used in the facades of the palaces. Made on Mulberry silk fabric cut into a square, this scarf is light weight and smooth. Handmade tassels are appended to the four corners adding to the charm.
