This hand woven pure wool shawl features a combination of traditional Ahir Embroidery and Mirror work. Traditional hand woven pattern and hand knotted tassels at the ends of the shawl add to the elegance.
Ahir Embroidery is practiced by the Ahir tribe and depicts figures of animals & birds. It is done with chain stitch using hooked needles. This traditional embroidery is a signature art of tribal community of Kutch District in Gujarat. Herringbone stitch is used to fix the mirrors to the fabric. Encapsulated within or around the motifs, these mirrors create sparkling effect enhancing the appeal.
